The scenario of mental health in India is getting worse day by day. Mental health constitutes to be an integral part of the overall health and well-being of people of any country. It is influenced by various cultural, political, social, economic and environmental factors. A 2015 study conducted by the World Health Organization shows that 1 in every 5 Indians may suffer from depression during their lifetime which equals to 200 million people. Due to the stigma that has been associated with mental health and limited access to professional help, only 10 to 20% of such sufferers will seek professional help.

The World Health Organization estimates that India will suffer economic losses amounting to a staggering 1.03 trillion dollars from mental health conditions between 2012 and 2030.
